Text Box: I am reviewing how effectively we are accomplishing the Serra mission: “To foster and affirm vocations to the ordained priesthood and vowed religious life in the Diocese of El Paso and through this ministry to foster and affirm our member’s Catholic faith.” We review activities associated with this mission with the words “Pray-Invite-Encourage and Affirm.” How well are we performing each of these activities? PRAYER: We have a monthly prayer service for vocations faithfully attended by a small cadre of Serrans. One of our Parishes (St Matthew’s) offers Friday Adoration for Vocations and a first Friday 24 hours of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We pray individually for vocations and many parishes read a prayer for vocations during the Prayer of the Faithful at Mass. Serra Club USA recommends a 31 program where Serra members volunteer to attend Mass one day of the month and pray for vocations. We may try this. continued pg 2 Text Box: Presidents Message!
