President’s Message November 2010 Twelve hundred Serra Club Appeal Letters have been mailed. Pray for good results so that we can continue to help our major seminarians with a monthly stipend. We know that our Seminarians are often homesick and welcome letters from friends and family. Our Club has an active adopt a seminarian program. We undertake to show these young men that they have our love and support. We send a monthly stipend to all major seminarians and with the check each month Jon Hansen, our Treasurer, includes a short note. In addition, I am encouraging each member to send a note from time to time. Also, since these young men are away from home, it would be nice on occasion to send along a few stamps. To help you with this program, next week I will e-mail to you an updated mailing lists of our seminarians. Work continues on the Vocations web site. When young men visit the Vocation web site, it is our hope that they will see pictures and short stories about our Catholic Diocesan Priest. When young men understand how our Priests serve us, they will hear and respond to God’s call. A thank you to Fr. John Telles who spoke at the meeting of October 1, And thank you to Fr. Miguel Angel Sanchez for swearing in our new member on October 1, 2010. A thank you to Sister Vianney Bilgrien for speaking to our Serra Club at the October 15 meeting. |
