Text Box: President’s Message May 2011 This is my final President’s Message. My tour of duty as President ends May 30, 2011. It has been an enjoyable year for me and I hope to serve our Club in other ways in the years ahead. Our Serra Club has a wonderful mission and serving that mission offers many rewards. I thank all the officers and trustees that have been so supportive of our activities this past year. Thanks to the calling committee for their good work. Members inviting friends to join our Club is a source of our growth and vigor. This year we have added eight new members. We welcome all of them and are sure that they will be a source of leadership for our Club in the years ahead. Thanks to Liz Carl, Jane Thomson and Jeannine Nobles who invited these good people to joins us. Finally, I thank Tammy for her good work on our Serra Club web site and her exceptional work on the Serra Newsletter. Tammy has made the web site and newsletter outstanding. Working with her throughout the year has been a pleasure. Her enthusiasm for our mission cheers us up and makes us proud to be Serrans. Now for the coming year, I congratulate Jon Hansen, our new President. Jon will be a great president. His experience with Serra Club actives is exceptional. He has been a District Governor, Club President and the Club Treasurer for many years. We wish him well and pledge our support. An installation dinner is scheduled for Friday 20 May 2011 at the El Paso Club (downtown). Club members and guests will attend the 5:15 PM Mass together at St Patrick Cathedral. After the Mass, we will gather at the El Paso Club for Cocktails and Dinner. The installation ceremony will follow dinner. I hope all Serra Club Members will join us and give President Jon Hansen a good send off for the New Serra Year. Tom Walters, President The Serra Club of El Paso
