Jon Hansen, Our President, is out of town and has asked me to write this month’s president’s message.  I will update you on the information from our Parish Vocation Representative Enrichment Workshop that was conducted by Father Miguel Sanchez on June 25, 2011. The workshop was very well conducted and informative. Well worth the time. I will give you details in the next Newsletter.

Bishop Ochoa opened the meeting with a warm welcome and told us that we should be on the lookout for religious vocations and we will see faith filled young people. These people should be quietly and in private asked, “have you ever thought about becoming a priest or a sister”. This is good advice. Have you noticed that many priest that talk to our Club about their journey to the priesthood mention that this question was asked, normally by a lay person but frequently by their Pastor. Our club members should do this and we should spread the word far and wide in our web site in our parish bulletins. I will FAX all the parishes and ask for a bulletin announcement.

In November 2011 St Charles Borromero will celebrate 50 years of service to our Church in El Paso. At the workshop one of our Seminarians mentioned that in his visits to Parishes most people know about Tepayac but no one has heard of St Charles. We need to change that. The Serra Club, with the approval of Father Miguel, will develop a website this year to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary. With this website we will spread the St Charles Borromero message far and wide.

At our July meeting, we will present a Mass Kit to Father Mark Salas and hear his remarks about his journey to the priesthood.

Father Miguel will be in Spain with the Queen of Peace Youth Group so Father Weiss has agreed to bless the mass kit.

Pray that God continue to bless our work.
