There are so many positives to being a Serra member that one paragraph will hardly explain it. Not only do we support seminarians with monthly income, but we are there for them when needed. We also keep in touch with our priests by hosting lunches, just as we do for the nuns and brothers. Keeping in touch with all of them is not only enjoyable but satisfying for all concerned. Serrans meet once a month to review the progress of our programs, listen to thought provoking speakers, and interact with each other. What better way to spend a few hours a month. Mary Brock

My Name Is Elias Nieto
I am a Serra member because I want to be able to serve our Lord with helping our seminarians through there unselfish dedication to serve our lord and become priest. Which in turn serve us the catholic community. I am a Serra member because I want to be part of Gods Team.

When I married we left El Paso for 26 yrs. when we returned we moved to the Queen of Peace parish where they had a ministry fair. I checked all the ministries but I had not heard of Serra Club much less what it was about. Liz Carl invited me to a meeting where they were presenting a traveling priests kit to a new priest and I felt that was the ministry where I belonged.  Alicia

We were always involved with the priests and the seminarians. When it came time for the ordinations. We sponsored their families so that they might be able to attend the ordination of their loved one. all of this was a labor of love.

PRAY + INVITE + ENCOURAGE + AFFIRM

Sometimes during our lifetime, we understand that we should “retool” ourselves.  Upon reflection and minor research, many of us realize that the church we see evolving is not the church of our childhood.  Our religious community is diminishing in numbers.  Vocations in the U.S. are at its lowest point.  The Serra Club offers a venue to pray, reflect and support those who now attend to our faith and beliefs.  As a role model Catholic, it is our obligation to provide physical, emotional and spiritual encouragement to those who carry the “torch” of our religion.  The Serra Club is one of those vehicles.  We have a choice: We can be the candle or the mirror that reflects our belief!

Thank you for the opportunity Patricia S. Foley
