Fr. Jose Lorenzo Lucero born on June 19, 1931 in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico passed away on March 14, 2014. He was the son of the late Pablo Lucero Rios and Leonor Terrazas. He received education at the Seminario Conciliar de Chihuahua and at the Seminario Pontificio de Montezuma, Mexico. He was ordained as Deacon on April 19, 1955 and was ordained Priest on June 8, 1956 by Bishop D. Manuel Talamas Camadari at Sagrado Corazon in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Fr. Lucero served as Parochial Vicar at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Cd. Juarez, 1957 - 1959; Pastor of Ascension Parish, Cd. Juarez from 1959 - 1967; Rector of the Seminario Mayor in Diocese of Cd. Juarez from 1968 - 1977; Pastor of Cristo Rey Parish, Cd. Juarez, 1977 - 1989. He began working in the Diocese of El Paso on May 10, 1990 where he served as the Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph. He was Parish Administrator of San Elceario Parish from 1992 - 1998. He was Parochial Vicar at Holy Spirit and Buen Pastor Mission from 1998 - 2000. He served as Parochial Vicar at San Judas Tadeo Parish from 2000 - until he retired. Fr. Lucero was preceded in death by his brother, Msgr. Jose Leonardo Lucero, from Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He is survived by his sister, Margarita Lucero. Visitation was held on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 5:30 p.m.to 9 p.m. at San Judas Tadeo Catholic Church, 4007 Hidden Way, with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral
